Encinitas plumbing needs are shaped by salt air and older homes
Encinitas has a character you can feel the moment you drive down the 101 through Leucadia. Surf shops, plant nurseries, hand-painted signs, and beach cottages that have been standing since the 1950s and 60s. Those cottages have charm. They also have original plumbing that's pushing 70 years old. Jack's Plumbing and Heating Inc serves Encinitas from our home base in Carlsbad, just about five miles north. We know this stretch of coast well.
Salt air is the silent problem nobody warns you about when you buy near the beach. It corrodes copper fittings, eats away at outdoor hose bibs, and shortens the life of tank water heaters sitting in garages with open vents. In Leucadia and the streets around Moonlight State Beach, we've replaced more corroded pressure regulators and failing water heaters than we can count. If your hot water runs out faster than it used to or your shower pressure has dropped, there's a good chance salt exposure is part of the story. The corrosion builds over years, slowly weakening solder joints and thinning pipe walls until something finally gives. And it always gives at the worst possible time.
